Georgian Vocal Polyphony and Yodeling
Ensemble Adilei with special guests Chamgeliani Sisters
Hailing from the republic of Georgia, this group of nine young vocalists is praised for their collective approach, superior improvisational skills, and a fresh and lively repertoire. Adilei’s main passion lies in music from Guria in western Georgia, home to a complex and colorful form of polyphonic singing and yodels. This concert features wild yodeling by Lasha “the beast” Bedenashvili, as well as the underrepresented women’s voice with the Chamgeliani Sisters, who sing beautifully haunting music from Svaneti, a mountainous region in the northwest.
