Adam Rudolph’s Go: Organic Orchestra has been pushing the boundaries of large ensemble music for over 20 years, collaborating with musicians such as Yusef Lateef, Don Cherry, Sam Rivers, Pharaoh Sanders, and L. Shankar. The collective Brooklyn Raga Massive has been making waves for their role instigating a “Raga Renaissance” made up of a who’s who of today’s leading young Indian musicians. This project, marking the release of the new triple LP Album Ragmala, brings them together for an exploration into new dimensions based around India’s traditional raga and tala traditions. Improvisationally conducted by artistic director Adam Rudolph, these hypnotic, polyrhythmic explorations propel a spontaneous group of over 20 musicians including legends Hamid Drake and Gnawa master Hassan Hakmoun with music ranging from meditative to ecstatic.
